So I've been doing research down in southern Iowa for the past month, far from that blogger lifeblood, the internet connection. I'm finally living in a town with -gasp!- a wifi-equipped coffee house, where typing isn't as precarious as it was perched on the steps outside the Mt. Ayr public library.
I've been able to see d.w. and Chins quite a bit while I've been down here, although given the hungry tick d.w. got as a little memento the last time she was down, I have a feeling the visits may be fewer. Either way, in a couple of weeks the two of them leave to spend the rest of the summer in California with the grandparents. Yeah, that will be sad and I try not to think about it. Good thing I have more than enough birds to count, nests to monitor, and plants to measure.
Given the wind and thunderstorms today it feels like the apocalypse is upon us, so I imagine I ought to get along back to the house before the sky opens up again. Nice seeing you again, if only for just a minute.
Nice seeing you too. Is it just me, or is Chins' beak a little longer in that photo than it was last month?

Nice photo stream, except for the pile of June bugs.

Thanks, although most of the photo's aren't mine (although that one is). I put up a Flickr site for the research team of which I am a part.
